A Shared Au Pair arrangement provides an opportunity for families who do not require an Au Pair on a full time basis and have accommodation available, to share the services of an Au Pair with another residential family in the same location who requires part time child care services but do not have accommodation to host an Au Pair.

SHARED AU PAIR SERVICE

In order to meet the requirements of hosting an Au Pair under a shared Au Pair arrangement, one family out of the two must be able to provide accommodation and transport in order to host an Au Pair.  As a minimum, this must include access their own bedroom, access to a bathroom (this can be shared with the family) and access to your home and living facilities. In regards to transport, a suitable car that your Au Pair can use during and potentially after hours.

An agreement on working days and hours is then agreed between the two families with my support, with one or both families providing the Au Pair with a mode of transport.  The weekly hours must equate to a 40-hour week as per the Full Time Au Pair Arrangement.  Should either family require additional hours to be worked over a 40-hour week time frame, an additional hourly rate of $10.00 must be paid to the Au Pair.

A benefit to Au Pair’s when participating in a Shared Au Pair arrangement is providing them with an opportunity to experience multiple families, meet new people and work with different children during their placement.

In a Shared Au Pair Placement, the Au Pair will reside with one family for a period of 6 months. As an example, the Au Pair would work at this house for 2 – 3 days a week and at another house 2 – 3 days a week depending on the arrangement.

host family Pre-placement process

Following the completion of your online registration, I will email you through a questionnaire to obtain more information so I can get to know you and your family and understand what you are looking for.

I will then review your information against other families to identify potential share family arrangements for your review and consideration in conjunction with an assessment of your family needs and available Au Pairs that match the requirements of both families.

The next step will be a ‘meet and greet’ between the Shared Au Pair Families.  This will be an opportunity to discuss your arrangement, review the potential Au Pair profiles and agree on an Au Pair/s to progress to the next stage. Au Pair match options for consideration will be provided in the form of a summary report.

Once you have selected an Au Pair that interests each family, one member of each family will complete a Skype or Phone meet and greet with the Au Pair that I will coordinate.

Each family will then have support with the following:

  • An information checklist for both the Host Family members on how to obtain a Police Clearance**;
  • Information for Host Families on what facilities and support you need to provide an Au Pair during their placement including recommended guidelines that will assist you in making the process as smooth as possible;
  • Booking the selected Au Pair into a Children’s First Aid Course if this is requested from the Host Family/Families (commencement of course will depend on availability)**;
  • Booking the selected Au Pair onto a Driver Awareness Course if this is required from the Host Family/Families (commencement of course will depend on availability)**;
  • Management of placement offer between both Host Families and Au Pair in the form of a written agreement.
